Project type

Vertical connection requires a significant amount of space, especially in areas with limited land availability. This project explores ways to further optimize the footprint of a single staircase. Reinterpreting the conventional concept of “stairs and corridors” as “stairs and terraces” enables spaces that allow personal lifestyles to spill out. This approach not only facilitates community formation but also enhances ventilation and natural lighting, contributing to a better living environment.
With zoning code relaxations, a six-story volume measuring approximately 30 feet by 90 feet can be constructed. To accelerate the construction process and prioritize environmental considerations, a CLT modular system is adopted. CLT offers structural strength, fire resistance, and excellent insulation and acoustic properties. Additionally, it is lighter than concrete or steel, allowing for smaller foundations, making it well-suited for compact sites.
By utilizing this construction method, it is possible to create two units of 15 feet by 45 feet and one unit of 30 feet by 45 feet. These units will accommodate 2B1B and 3B2B layouts, providing a unique living infrastructure in contrast to the abundance of studio and 1B1B units in the current market.
